  • Hey guy...sorry it's been so long.  I haven't really had much to write about until today.  So here's what's going on in my life.  This past Wednesday, I had a meeting with my boss to discuss my future.  This was the meeting I was under the impression that I would be given an offer, not so much.  He told me that I would not be receiving a full-time position for at least another year, but that he would love to continue to work with me to continue to prepare myself for that position.  During this meeting, I told him that I would need time to figure out if this is what is best for me, and about 15 minutes later, I decided that it was not.  So now, I'm about to move out of my house to move back in with mom and dad so I can save some money until I find a job.

Tonight, I am meeting with my boss for dinner rto discuss parts of the Summer, how he can help me find a position elsewhere (mostly for parks and rec), etc.  Right now, my biggest lead for a position is with the Anthony Munoz Foundation.  Other places I'm looking is with AmeriCorps, and the Greater Columbus Sports Commission.

If any of you have leads for other positions that you think I may be interested for, please contact me as soon as possible via e-mail at hamrick30@yahoo.com.  Thanks.

  • The Search Continues

So the search continues...as noted in the title.  Today, I had a grandmother approach me for the second time this week about what a great job I do with the kids.  She continues to mention how her husband coached baseball for 50 years and coached Paul O'Neal when he was in high school, etd.  After she mentions this to me, she will go on to ask me if I want to continue to pursue coaching after Skyhawks because he husband has said, "That guy is a great coach."  Well, I told her that I enjoy coaching, but I am actually looking to be in the business side of sports, that is why I pursued a business minor.

Her daughter overheard me telling her about his and told me that she knows a lot of orthopedists around the city that work with the Blue Jackets, the Crew, the Buckeyes, etc.  and many of them are looking to add someone to their office to handle the business side of their organization (Marketing, Sales, Customer Relations, etc.)  and that she'd love to have a way to contact me or have some information to hand out to the people that she knows to help me find a full-time position someplace.  So, since all of these parents love me coaching their children, I decided to hand out program guides to every parent at my program that lists every program we offer in Columbus for the rest of the Summer.  Inside of this booklet, I will put my contact information.

Another bonus, this mom at my camp, has a sister that she brought on Tuesday.  She is an elementary school teacher, she is single, she is hot, and she drives an escalade.  Gotta love Dublin, OH where even the school teachers are loaded.

  • Future

So, I still don't know where I'm going to wind up this fall.  I was talking with my boss last Friday and he mentioned that he is going to WA to have a meeting with the CEO to talk about new full-time positions and vacant full-time positions.  At that time I pitched the idea of me becoming the Area Manager of Southern Ohio and Kentucky, since he keeps mentioning he wants to open the Kentucky Market.  However, it seems more likely that there will be a new position available for all of Ohio only.  That would mean that I would stay in Columbus.  He also did mention to me that there are definitely going to be vacant positions in Chicago, So. Cal, and Texas.  I'm not sure how excited I would be about any of those other than So. Cal.

So, in order to put a little pressure on him to let me know if I'll be full-time or not, I called him yesterday and informed him that I'd be submitting my resume to the Anthony Munoz Foundation sometime soon.  He was excited for me.  I'm not sure it worked like I had planned.

    I WANT A JOB!!!

  • Skyhawks is the greatest :(

So this is my first entry.  I don't like to write a lot so this will be short and sweet.  Yesterday, my staff for skyhawks continued to dwindle.  We started the year with a total of 38 coaches and directors.  We now have 23.  I found out that one of my directors was ending his program about 30 minutes early and sending the kids back to the day camp they came from.  That coordinator called me yesterday and was pissed.  After I called the coach to find out what was going on, he blatantly lied to me and told me that the 16 year old counselor of their day camp insisted that he take the kids back to their bunks.  Later last night, I received a call from a coach of a different program we are having at the same location, to inform me of what was taking place and that the counselor of the day camp was actually doing what our director was instructing him to do.  Needless to say, the director that was leaving early is about to get his ass chewed out, and will never be working for us again.

So, that's it.  Maybe I'll do another one soon.
